From the street to the track to the trail, millions of Americans enjoy motorcycling. Some ride to work every day. Others ride for pleasure on weekends. Many ride off-road, or journey to places near and far. Still more seek the thrill of competition.

The American Paint Horse's combination of color and conformation has made the American Paint Horse Association (APHA) the second-largest breed registry in the United States based on the number of horses registered annually. While the colorful coat pattern is essential to the identity of the breed, American Paint Horses have strict bloodline requirements and a distinctive stock-horse body type.

These heavily muscled, compact horses could run a short distance over a straightaway faster than any other horse, and the fastest were called Celebrated American Quarter Running Horses by English colonists in the 1600s.  In 1940 a registry was formed to preserve the breed which officially became the American Quarter Horse.

CEM is owned and operated by Wendy Rivers. The CEM team loves what we do and are gratified by the horse's acceptance of us. Their willingness to trust us has brought joy to our lives and we hope, enrichment to theirs.

Since its creation in 1971, CHC has been striving to be the voice of the horse industry in Connecticut. We have been involved with zoning, enacting state laws, equine health issues, disaster planning for horses, and more. We regularly interact with legislators, agency heads, town boards and others in our day to day dealings with horse related concerns. We advocate for horse owners in Connecticut, and also act as a resource for those seeking information.

Founded in 1971, the mission of the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is to conserve, improve and protect the natural resources and environment of the State of Connecticut in such a manner as to encourage the social and economic development of Connecticut while preserving the natural environment and the life forms it supports in a delicate, interrelated and complex balance, to the end that the state may fulfill its responsibility as trustee of the environment for present and future generations.

The Appaloosa Horse Club is the international breed registry serving ApHC members and Appaloosa enthusiasts by recording and preserving the horses' heritage and history, and by providing services that promote, enhance and improve the Appaloosa, a breed defined by ApHC bloodline requirements and preferred characteristics, including coat pattern.

The National High School Rodeo Association is an international, non-profit organization dedicated to the development of sportsmanship, horsemanship and the character in the youth of our country through the sport of rodeo. Created by Texas educator and rodeo contestant Claude Mullins, the NHSRA held its first finals in Hallettsville, Texas, Aug. 25-27, 1949. The NHSRA membership consists of over 10,500 members from 41 states, five Canadian provinces and Australia.

Nestled in the quiet community of Glendora, Calif., just minutes east of downtown Los Angeles, is the world's largest and loudest auto racing organization, the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA). Since it was founded by Wally Parks in 1951, NHRA has been dedicated to safety while providing millions of racing fans with The Extreme Motorsport: the fastest and most spectacular form of entertainment on wheels.

With 80,000 members and more than 35,000 licensed competitors, NHRA is a thriving leader in the world of motorsports. Parks initially started NHRA as a means of getting hot rodders off the streets and on to legal dragstrips. Since those early days, NHRA has evolved into the largest promoter of professional drag racing in the world.

The Durham Fair is the largest agricultural fair in Connecticut. Established in 1916, our fair is traditionally held the last full weekend of September. We feature many traditional agricultural programs year after year, as well as many brand new exhibits, activities and fair food items.

The Durham Fair is owned and operated by the Durham Agricultural Fair Association, Inc. We are a private not-for-profit organization and are the largest fair in North America  managed entirely by unpaid volunteers.
